The state religion of England is a form of Trinitarian Protestantism named after one of their ancient tribes, the Angles. The Queen heads the Anglican Church as the Pope heads the Catholic faith. Every year the English celebrate with the Lord Mayor's parade complete with floats representing the ancient giants of Gog and Magog and a banquet at the famous Guildhall in London. Speeches of great import are usually given at this banquet as the statues of Gog and Magog overlook the festive proceedings.

The late British statesman Winston Churchill gave a speech at the Lord Mayor's banquet there as reported by the Times dated Saturday, November 10, 1951.
